October 9, 2009, Minneapolis, MN – Menttium announces four scholarship winners for this year’s Menttium 100 Program. These women will all become mentees, starting on October 14, 2008. Each scholarship winner will be matched with a mentor from another organization for a year-long formal mentoring relationship. In addition to mentoring, each mentee will receive access to business education sessions and the opportunity to connect with the hundreds of other Menttium 100 mentees.
Jolene Evenson is the Director of Resource Development at DARTS in Dakota County, Minnesota. DARTS is a volunteer based organization that works with others to pioneer and deliver high-quality services that support the full participation of seniors and all generations in the community. For 34 years, DARTS has worked to build a premier service agency in Dakota County for seniors and their families. DARTS is synonymous with excellent services, a responsive community partner, a great place to volunteer, the best steward of voluntary donations, and an excellent place to work and build a professional career. Ms. Evenson will be recognized at the Menttium 100 Launch on October 14, 2009.
Lisa Hetzel is the Human Resources Director for Common Hope in La Antigua, Guatemala. Common Hope promotes hope and opportunity in Guatemala, partnering with children, families, and communities who want to participate in a process of development to improve their lives through education, health care, and housing. In the fall of 1985, a group of Guatemalans asked the Huebsch family of Minnesota, USA for help in educating their children. As a result, Common Hope was founded as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation so that friends could get involved.
Since then, Common Hope has grown from a small, family-based project to a powerful force partnering with over 8,000 children and adults living in rural and urban poverty in Guatemala. Ms. Hetzel will be recognized at the Menttium 100 Program Launch on December 10, 2009.
Megan C. Williamson is the Manager of Individual Giving and Board Relations at Project Exploration in Chicago, Illinois. Project Exploration is a nonprofit science education organization that makes science accessible to the public—especially minority youth and girls—through personalized experiences with scientists and science. Cofounded in 1999 by paleontologist Paul Sereno and educator Gabrielle Lyon, Project Exploration meets its mission through intensive youth development programs, services for schools and teachers, and public programs such as exhibits and online initiatives. Ms. Williamson will be recognized at the Menttium 100 Launch on December 2, 2009.
