Our Founding and Leadership

Menttium was founded in 1991 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and started with a cohort of 100 women in the Twin Cities, with the goal to help women break the glass ceiling by providing them with external mentors from various corporations in the area. This groundbreaking idea became a global success, evolving from Minnesota 100 to a global cross-company mentoring program we now call Menttium 100. Today, it’s a driving force for women’s leadership worldwide, proving that innovation and impact know no boundaries.

Menttium was founded in 1991

Lynn Sontag, Menttium’s owner, joined the business in 1996 and took on the CEO role in 2002. Under her leadership, Menttium expanded its program offerings to include additional cross-company programs for professionals of color, emerging leaders, and executives as well as growth across our consulting services to help companies design and implement internal mentoring programs. Menttium expanded its reach and footprint, solidifying our place as the leaders in mentoring. We are proud of not only what we do, but how and why we do it.

2023 marked a year of transition for Menttium, as after more than two decades of leading, Missy Chicre was named the new CEO of Menttium. Now in another new phase of growth under Missy’s leadership and with our Menttium Team Awesome, Menttium is focused on more through mentoring. Missy relies on her background in change and talent management, as well as a passion for helping people thrive,  to push the status quo. We use insights from decades of data and experience to inform our decisions, anticipating market and social trends so we can deliver meaningful mentoring experiences that benefit both individual mentees and their organizations. We are driven by our mission and doubling down on the power of authentic human connection; expect more mentoring solutions, more innovation, and more impact through mentoring!
