Effective Engagement Across Differences

Effective Engagement Across Differences

Our brains are equipped by a mechanism that searches for sameness as a sign of safety and interprets differences as a sign of danger. It is so called reptilian brain, by far the oldest part of our brain. This is one of our legitimate excuses for unconscious biases.

Effective engagement across differences is impossible when our fight-or-flight driver is in charge. It calls for examination of what and why we consider being similar, it requires understanding of differences and our reactions to them, and it depends on our ability to mindfully and creatively navigate differences we encounter. Sounds good. But how do we practically do all of that?

In this highly interactive workshop participants will be invited to experience Trialogue that has been a game changer in diversity management. The concept of Trialogue started off in a Norwegian context in 1995, but has been used by more than 200,000 people in more than 70 countries.  Trialogue combines psychological approach with a social constructive and linguistic practice.  These perspectives add new dimensions to the collective intelligence for managing diverse relationships, teams, and organizations.

Trialogue “maps” personal qualities and behavioral preferences into bias-free categories of Red, Blue, or Green preferences for interaction and problem-solving, opportunities emerge for unifying and diversifying practices both for people and task-perspectives.

In this 4-hour workshop, master facilitator, Tatyana Fertelmeyster and research fellow Bjørn Zakarias Ekelund will focus on a model for how engagement across differences can be managed in order to have synergy of diversity outperform costs of diversity. At the end they will share with you a broader application of the tool and take time for Q&A. The participants will receive a personal workbook for teams made for Trialogue. You can find more info about Trialogue at www.trialogue.com.
